Special techniques for spinal pain: Spinal traction and decompression
The Fenix Rehab System's special technique, spinal traction, for chronic muscle and facet joint pain of the low back and mid back.
- With this revolutionary aspect of the Fenix
Rehab System, you can specifically stretch the
paraspinal soft tissues around a painfully involved
spinal area. These are the tissues on each side of the bony bumps down the middle of your back.
Never apply pressure to these bony bumps with the Fenix. You can choose to stretch only
one side of the spine or both sides at the same time. If you use four paired
digits together, you can stretch and decompress areas of the spine that are
producing pain and stiffness, especially in the mid-back and low-back region.
- To stretch and decompress the spine, find the special four angled paired
holes approximately in the middle of the Fenix (see picture on right).
- Place four digits of the smallest size, either 1 1/2" or 2", depending
on the tissue thickness and sensitivity of the area of your spine selected for
treatment. For example four 1 1/2" digits can be generally used in treatment
of the mid-back and four 2" digits are used in treatment of the low back.
But this can vary from patient to patient.
- With certain techniques you can actually vary the length of the digit. For
example, on one end you can use the 2" digits against the sacral base and the
2 1/2" digits approximately on each side of the third lumbar segment, for
low back decompression.
- Another form of treatment with this feature is to use the 2" digits on
one side of the spine and the 1 1/2" digits on the other side of the spine.
This method is ideal in areas of the spine with rotation and curvature of the
spine, for example in the mid-thoracic with mild scoliosis.
